what is wrong with us..?

It was damn boring at my house during the hols.. I didn't know what to do.. I hence, called
up my friend and asked him, whether he was free.. he replied that he was free and that i was
welcome to visit him anytime that day..

I started from my home.. I went to the railway station at first to buy the ticket.. I waited
in the queue and then i reached the counter.. I asked the person sitting at the counter for
a ticket.. He asked for the money.. I gave him a 10 rupee-note.. Wat happened next was that
the person was screaming at me that it was my "duty/responibility" to bring change.. Highly
embarassed, i gave him the change for the ticket and bought it..

The train came to the platform.. When i tried to enter the train, I found that the entrance
was literally blocked, by a group of people sitting on the floor right near the entrance.. I
politely asked them to get up from the entrance satting that they were causing inconvenience
to the passengers.. The people who were sitting there, retorted with a few remarks which i'm
sure that even my enemy wouldn't have used against me.. I was deeply hurt by their words..
Since, i didn't want to be impolite, i merely left the place and stood in some corner of the
compartment. Some time passed..
Suddenly there was commotion in the compartment.. When I was looking towards the source from where the noise came, I found two men, wrestling each other, in the compartment.. A person standing nearby was telling me, that one of those two
had accidentally trodden on the feet of another, and that was the reason for their fight..
Highly disgusted by this act of theirs, I turned my head towards the opposite side..
Soon, the station where I was supposed to get down came.. When i was moving towards the
door, I found people, stand still like statues, without the slightest bother.. By mistake, I
rammed into a person.. Even after my apologies, the person began to shout at me as if I had
picked his pocket.. I was terribly upset.. Tears came to my eyes..
Finally, i somehow managed to disentangle myself from the crowd, and I got down at the
destination..

Though I had reached the destination.. My happiness had evaporated long before.. It was
instead replaced an uncontrollable rage..

Why are people treating me like dirt..? Why aren't they polite..? Don't they know decency..? Do they have the right to insult others using vulgar words..?

Stories of the trains in Washington D.C, as narrated by sister, came to my mind.. In the
United States, When a person sitting by the window seat gets up from his/her seat, the
people sitting nearby, automatically get up and leave way for the person.. She, who was used
to similar brutal treatment in the chennai trains was highly impressed by the decency shown by the people of the United States..

Wat is exactly wrong with us..? Indian culture, has always held decency in high esteem.. Why is it that our people are behaving like this..? Doesn't decency have any value..? atleast in this city..?

The craziest dream of my life

hi..

Dreams are usually supposed to reflect the state of mind in which the person was, before sleeping..! I really don't know what i had been feeling before going to sleep, because this particular dream turned out to be one of the craziest in my life..
the plot:
Venki, srikanth and madhu(my coll friends..), discontinue their college education, to educate the village children living below the poverty line.. They go into hiding and they kidnap intelligent people and force them to teach the children.. They kidnapped me(hurrah..! i'm also intelligent[:)]) and took me to a jungle somewhere.. When they untied the ropes, I started arguing with them about how important college education was, to me and asked them to release me immediately.. Venki, in turn, told me how selfish urban India is and how the politicians had totally forgotten the backbone of the country.. He then, requested me to help in their mission.. When this shouting match was going on, another captive was brought to the same place.. It was a school friend of mine.. She became scared and started crying.. My friends finally locked us in a room and went somewhere..
After they went, me and my school friend were planning to escape from that place, when I heard a strange music.. It was a highly annoying and irritating tune.. Can u guess what that noise was..?????

It was the alarm in my mobile..!!!!! kanavu kalaindhandhu.. I woke up to face the real world..

Wasn't it a very crazy dream..????

Sub-Prime Mortgage crisis

In the year 2005, the people of India added a new word to their dictionary. The word was
'tsunami'..! In the same manner, the people have learnt another word now.. 'Sub-prime
mortgage' is the word..! Yes..! The sub-prime mortgage crisis has shook the world and has
exposed the fallacies of the american economy and the anglo-saxon model of economy in
general. This has also brought to light, how irresponsible and short-sighted, the investment
companies were.

It also shows the consequences of incessant splurging, a characteristic of the United
states. the pity is that, the emerging economies and other producers in the world encourage
this splurging so that their products are sold..

Had every single person in America saved a portion of their income, the severity of the
crisis could have been lessened. In America, Banks look to wall street for their profits
because people enroll themselves in banks to borrow and not to save.

The worst part of it is that, due to decrease in the share prices, a lot of people have lost
their money. It is because, the share market is the investment zone for most of the
population. People should understand that wall street is just another las vegas ( dalal
street also is , for that matter).. Instead of playing roulette, people play 'trade' there..
Share markets do not and will never lead to development of the country.. In share markets,
credit changes hand. nothing else happens. Economy grows only when grain is produced or when
a car is manufactured.( I mean some commodity should be produced..).

The US government's decision of bailing out banks and other companies also sends out a clear
signal, that the government is encouraging the companies to commit this blunder once again..
It is like giving loads of cash to a gambler who has lost all his money..

We indians must learn a lot from this crisis. A few key points which the Indians should
understand:

1) DO NOT ape the west for anything and everything. Any development to brought into the
country, should be tailored to Indian needs. India shouldn't tailored according to the
development.
2) DO NOT SPLURGE. make sure you save a decent portion of your monthly income.
3) NEVER TRUST share markets. They are too risky and toooo volatile and hence cannot help us in times of need.
4) Future managers should not be short-sighted like these investment companies.

Let us hope india doesn't commit this grave error again in the name of globalisation or
development.

PS: I am an engg. student and I have no idea about terms related to economics. I have just voiced my views here. Please forgive me if I have said something wrong.I have
derived my views from the newspaper articles and also from the articles by mr.gurumurthy in
the tamil weekly 'thuglak'.

A TV ad which I came across

Today (i.e.) on Oct 1st, I was flipping through all TV channels out of sheer boredom, when I came across this advertisement. It was about a certain 'Hash10' mobile showroom. The ad is basically centered in a market-place. A lady finds a vegetable-vendor(a woman) selling mobile phones as well. The name of the shop was 'Samiksha'( you can very well understand whom they refer to..!! ).. The lady then asks the shopkeeper information pertaining the mobiles she sells. The shopkeeper tries to hide her ignorance about mobiles and argues with the lady. Finally, the shopkeeper accepts defeat and adds that she is better accustomed to vegetables than mobiles. The ad ends with the lady conveying a message 'It is senseless to buy mobiles from vegetable shops.! Try Hash10 !'.

I found the way in which the ad attacked its competitor, hilarious. I couldn't control my laughter for like 5 mins. Poor 'Samiksha'..!! Please buck up..!!

A Belated Friendship day message..

Friends..
What they mean to me..

what would be the best gift you can ask from your
friend..? A car..? A fancy t-shirt..? a beautiful
painting..? A fragrant flower..? If I had been
asked this question, my answer would be

" give me your woes, worries and fears
and when i am dead, please shed some tears.."

Animals eat, drink, live, mate and die.. What makes
humans different from them..? What is it that
adds colour to our life..? What is it that makes
us happy..? That is love, affection however you
may call it..! It is this that brings life into
the otherwise dreary human life.. It is this love
and affection for others that makes us human.. An
ordinary greeting card which may cost just around
20rs, becomes priceless if it comes from your
friend.. The cost, the beauty, the grandeur of the
gift don't matter.. it is the beauty of the soul
that gives the gift that matters..

there can be no love without sacrifice.. it is
sacrifice that gives worth to love.. sacrificing
your meal, to feed your friend is much much
greater than buying a costly item as a gift.. God
bless all the people who have had the opportunity
to sacrifice something for their friends..

A human is assigned a mom,a dad, grandparents,
uncles, aunts during birth..(seems like computer
jargon.. can't help it..) He has no option of
choosing them.. But it is a friend whom the human
a liberty to choose.. It is a friend who shapes
one's conduct in society, one's etiquette, one's
interests and what not..!!

A friend is not just a human, with whom you ply
games, sing songs, or simply while away time
with.. A friend is a soul who is concerned about
your well-being even though he/she isn't expected
to.. A friend is one who takes the initiative to
help you even though you aren't related to
him/her.. a friend is one who considers loving
you his right and not his duty..

I just wrote this post to thank all of my friends
to my hearts content for whatever they have done
for me till now.. Thank you, my friends for
whatever support you gave me till now.. Thank you
for laughing at all my silly, good-for-nothing
jokes.. thank you for all the help you have given
me.. thank you for supporting me when i found
myself in trouble.. thank you for making my
school and college life something to be
treasured.. I always want you by my side.. I
can't imagine a world without you.. Friends play
an important role in an adolescent's life.. You
have helped me steer myself from dangerous
waters, and made me the human what i am now.. I
may be snobbish, cowardly, idiotic and boring..
But still you accepted me into your fold.. Thank
you for adding light into my life..
Thank you..
